Cinerama Drive-In
The Century Drive-In in Inglewood Ca. (Pacific Theatres) was one of the very few (or perhaps the only one) to show true 3-projector Cinerama outdoors. In 1964 it showed 3 Cinerama features during the summer with the projectors mounted on flatbed trucks. It wasn't a huge success, but an interesting story. In this page, you'll notice that the theatre owners are a bit more optimistic about drive-in Cinerama's potential than may have been prudent! This particular drive-in closed and was demolished somewhere in '83 or '84. (supporting info from Evil Sam's Drive-In Theatre Guide)
